Tosh Hernandez

Tosh Hernandez steps in on short notice to face David Del Real for the 125 lb amateur MMA title at Crash Combat 8. Born on Long Island, New York, he grew up in a military family and lived in four places before landing in Kansas. He came from a wrestling background and moved into MMA to sharpen it, trying several Lawrence gyms before settling at Lawrence Fight Club; he also works out of No Limits Kickboxing and Transcend Grappling Academy when he is back in New York. He took the title fight after the original opponent withdrew with an injury. Coming from New York, he finds Kansas a change of pace — "everything's super calm." His pitch for the night is straightforward: "I'm excited to showcase my skills this September 5th. Make sure you guys get tickets — I'm gonna put on a show."
