About

Eli Morris trains at Henry's Martial Arts in Creston, Iowa under coach Josh Henry, who has a strong taekwondo background. Eli incorporates that heavily into his style, particularly with his kicks. He got into fighting during a tough period in his life — from the first time he stepped on the mats, the discipline and life lessons resonated immediately. He started his amateur career in 2024. His first fight was a kickboxing match at age 22; he lost by TKO late in round 2 and says he wasn't fully prepared but is still proud of the performance. His most recent fight before this interview was a kickboxing bout in October at AFC against Kelly Ehrhorn — lost a decision, but identified holes in his striking he's since been drilling hard. He works as a wind turbine technician at Vestas; his co-workers, including fellow fighter Ethan Ellis, are highly supportive. Boss Tom Sorensen helps build hype and made his fight shirts. Off the mat he enjoys video games and reading when not in fight camp. He's faith-driven — backstage he recites Bible verses and positive mantras while getting his hands wrapped. His family was initially concerned but became fully supportive. Goals: win an amateur belt, turn pro, eventually open his own gym. Training partners: Ethan Ellis, Justin Rhodes, Sawyer Andresen, Patrick Fletchall. Source: Clay's Conversations interview (Facebook).
